3 Day Explore Rwanda’s Akagera National Park

This tour will let you explore Rwanda’s big game conservation, Akagera National Park, which is gifted with herds of Elephants and Buffalos that emerge from the woodland to drink water at Lake Ihema, while lucky visitors might stumble across a spotted hyena or even a stray lion. Other animals to see include the giraffe and zebra, various types of antelope inhabit the park such as chestnut-coated impala, Oribi, and Bushbuck, as well as the world’s largest antelope, the statuesque cape eland.

Day 1 Arrival and transfer to Akagera National Park

On this day, you will be met and briefed by our tour guide at Kigali airport. enjoy a 2-hour drive to Akagera National Park in Eastern Rwanda and check in at Akagera Safari Lodge for a relaxed evening as you get mentally set for the next day’s adventure.

Day 2 Game drive and boat trip in Akagera National Park

You will enjoy an early morning breakfast start your game drives and be ready to explore the African savanna. A half-day game drive here offers you an opportunity to spot a variety of games including Elephants, Buffalos, Hippos, Lions, Masai Giraffe, Gazelles, Impala, Baboons, Oribi, Butchel’s zebra, Topi, Bush babies, Leopard and bushbuck, Elands, etc.

Proceed for a boat trip after lunch on Lake Ihema, for a close encounter with the Crocodiles and Hippos along the riverbanks, coupled with a large concentration of over 525 bird species both migratory and savanna-related. Unique species such as shoe-billed stocks and papyrus gonolek can be encountered. Endemics include jacanas, ibis, sandpipers, and herons. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3 Rwanda Genocide Memorial tour and transfer to Kigali Airport

Have breakfast and drive to Kigali, go for a city tour, and visit the museum, the genocide memorial, site and other cultural sites. Later transfer to the airport for departure as you say farewell to the African wilderness and this day will mark the end of your Akagera tour.
